Allow me to ask my usual questions: “What happens to your photos of family events?” “I store them on my hard disk”, you say. So, according to my interviews, this is the destiny of 90% of photo collections . “What is the purpose of taking private photos?” would be my next rude question. Usually the answer is “to safeguard the memory”. “Would your private network like to see some of these pictures?” “Yes, sure!” Do you share out the photos?” “No!” Do you organize the photos? “No, I will do it later, maybe when I retire”.
I am 60 years old. I am a busy father and grandfather. I have experienced your excuses myself.
Since nobody is writing letters any more, today photos are the best way to ensure family history. You make the history of the persons in your photos. Your family and friends make your history. This is why relationships should be based on sharing photos. My mission is to make this sharing very easy and fast.
Facebook makes it easy to do PR for yourself, but it also demands a lot of your attention. Picasa would organize your photos in any advanced way you want, but you will have to plan it and learn to use it. Kodak Gallery would make it easy to get photo prints, but it takes time to learn to use it.
Album2 has the ambition to be the simplest and fastest way of sharing photos.
Well, at least the next beta will be released very soon. The mission of my team and I is to ease your family’s chronicle. By the way, being 60, I know more and more retired people. They don’t have time to fiddle about photos either.
Norway is the international test country for internet applications. Here are the most demanding users in the world. It is also a country with important financial power. This is why Album2 was invented here and that well known investment banks are supporting Album2 with capital. In order to stretch this money, I went to low cost Romania to get a team. In Transylvania I found the best software engineers and the most patient support people in Europe.
